The Fornello SR81 Controller for solar panels is an electronic device used to manage complex pressurized solar systems for domestic hot water (DHW) heating and/or space heating. It plays a crucial role in managing the circulation of the heat transfer fluid between the solar panels and the boiler or heat accumulator.
The controller has a separate keyboard with a display so that you can access the system without entering the technical room. The display can be installed wherever it's most convenient for you to monitor and set the system. The cable between these two devices has 3 wires and is 5 meters long.

Explanation of the SR81 Controller functions for solar panels:

Anti-Legionella Function: This function prevents the formation of bacteria in the water from the tank/boiler by automatically checking the temperature in the tank every 7 days. If it detects that the temperature in the boiler has remained below 70°C for a long period, at 1:00 AM, the heating system is automatically activated to raise the temperature to 70°C, thus destroying any bacteria. Afterward, the heating will be automatically deactivated.

Vacation Function: This function is activated during the night. The heat transfer fluid in the solar coil will circulate from the storage tank/boiler into the solar panels to cool the tank/boiler, thus preventing possible issues caused by high thermal loads in the solar system (overheating of the water in the boiler during multiple consecutive sunny days).

Pump Circulation Control: The circulation of the pump is controlled based on temperature and time. When the circulation control is based on time, only one circulation pump is required. The pump runs for 3 minutes and then stops for 15 minutes, with this cycle repeating during the operation. Temperature-based control is done using temperature sensors. When the temperature difference between the solar panel and the boiler exceeds the preset value, the circulation pump will activate. It will run until the temperature difference between the solar panel and the boiler drops below the preset value.
